The Methodist Chapel

The structure which was to become the Wesleyan Chapel was built around the end of the 18th century. It was a low single storey building of two dwellings, set along the road opposite the turning into Wood End Lane.

To preempt a road widening scheme, the Chapel was pulled down in 1978 brick by brick by a team of workers from the Stacey Hill Collection of Industry and Rural Life. There were plans to rebuild it in the Museum when money became available, but a fire destroyed the Chapel before that could happen.

A new Chapel was built next to the old School, but that too was dismantled to make way for the new houses opposite the Church.
